Technology Resources
This page is filled with educational tools that I have used during my undergraduate time Appalachian State University. These resources connect students to 21st century learning resources and techniques.
GoNoodle: Is a great tool to connect students to technology and to "boost productivity, improve behavior, and build community."
Kahoot: Is the perfect tool for preforming an assessment check of student's pre/post knowledge of a topic. Kahoot is a fun way to get students engaged including a point system for correct answers.
Poll Everywhere: This is a great tool for older audiences such as high school, college, and/or professional environments. This application allows real-time data to be collected and evaluated anonymously at any point.
The topic of creativity within the school system is a large topic of concern amongst teachers, staff, parents, and students of every age/generation. Ken Robinson states many reasons why a school should foster creativity in his presentation via Ted Talk.
ToonDoo: Is a fun and easy way for students to display their ideas through comic strips. ToonDoo is easy to operate, free, and a valuable tool to reach multiple audiences within the classroom.
World Cloud: Is a tool that allows multiple concepts to be displayed in a text format. Similar to a concept map, Word Clouds typically have a central idea that connects the words or phrases to. This is a different way for students to create connections to themselves and/or the world they live in.
Common Recommendations: Is a google document that lists the multiple ways in which a classroom can become a beneficial learning environment. It is based off of the “Best Practice: Today’s Standards for Teaching and Learning in America’s Schools.”
Turns out Monkey Bars: Is a valuable podcast that any education major and/or teacher needs to listen to because it explains the importance of recess. Recess is a vital aspect of the school system and the development of each child's brain and academic ability/achievement.
