Before you begin watching my blog posts, please keep in mind that this is a sensitive and difficult topic for me to discuss. There is so much that I want to say about this topic, but I am always fearful to share my opinion.
As a white, heterosexual, female, there are no words that I can say that can encompass the pain that the black community feels in regards to racism, stereotypes, and prejudice. There is so much pain that the black community feels, however, we must always remember that the black community is STRONG, especially when members of different races, ethnicity, and backgrounds come together to fight for the black community and the injustices that they face. I will always stand beside and up for those that experience these injustices.
I am continuously learning more and more everyday about how to become more aware of social injustices in the community. I take classes to learn how to lesson the stereotypes, racism, and prejudices that surround our society and within the education system. However, I can't do it alone. I need you, all of you, to stand with people who need voices to join them in their fight. There is strength in numbers; there should be an infinite amount of people fighting for justice.
Lastly, if you have any resources you would like to share with me to further my knowledge of this topic in ANY way, please reach out to me. As an educator, I am always wanting to learn how to be more inclusive and understanding of all people.
